Daily Writing Prompts to Inspire New Ideas
Daily writing prompts are an excellent tool to use as a springboard for writing workshop. These prompts give teachers many options. Teachers can choose to use these writing prompts as bell-ringers at the beginning of class, or they can also use them as extended writing assignments for writing workshop. Teachers can also opt to have students draft multiple essays and select one to take through the writing process. This strategy allows students choice and increases student motivation while simultaneously targeting the necessary writing skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. It is because of this that the collaborators here at TeachWriting.org have created a bundle of 100 FREE prompts for the school year!
